There has been a lot of demand within the trade show marketing industry for display products that are green. This demand has been driven by corporate trade show managers in larger companies that are looking for ways to be green. However, this blog was created to serve the small business trade show marketer and we wanted to look at what role these green products will play for the smaller exhibitor.
When we were thinking about offering the eco-systems line of display products, we asked ourselves what was it that made them green? Most of these display systems fit into the custom modular exhibit category. That means that they are not the lightest exhibits available. So we wondered, is it still green if it weighs more than another type of exhibit? There are a number of 10' wide trade show displays that weigh less than 50 lbs. Can it still be green if it requires more energy to transport? We really struggled with this question.
The Eco-Systems line of displays is really about creating sustainable exhibits that can be produced from materials that are rapidly renewable or recyclable. The product line isn't going to meet all exhibit needs, but it is a tremendous first step. If an exhibitor is looking for a custom modular exhibit, they now have the ability to purchase a system that is very environmentally friendly. However, I'm confident that as we build on this first step we will be able to offer sustainable solutions in a much wider variety of product lines.
With many green products, it all comes down to taking those first steps towards creating long-term solutions that will make our community better for everyone.
